Wednesdays are a continuation of Tuesdays. The handwork process takes quality time to take in and execute. What work we don’t complete, we will continue today.
Thursdays are reserved for time to come together as a community and decide where we can put provide our hands for better service.
Fridays we hit the trails, engaging in wilderness awareness skills that will deepen our appreciation for the earth under our feet. This day includes technical skill training and activities based around environmental ecology.
Autumn (September-November)
September: The "Getting Ready" Month We'll focus on preparation and the basics of being in the outdoors. This includes Wilderness Welcome & Leave No Trace Basics, Backpacking Essentials & Packing Smart, and Map & Compass Fundamentals.
October: The "Bushcraft Beginnings" Month This month is all about hands-on skills. We'll learn about Fire Starting, Shelter Building, Wild Edibles & Foraging, and Nature Observation & Tracking.
November: The "Preparing for Cold" Month As the weather gets colder, we'll focus on practical skills. Topics include Cordage & Knot Tying, Wilderness First Aid, Outdoor Cooking, and an Autumn Review.
Winter (December-February)
December: The "Winter Warm-Up" Month This month is dedicated to staying safe and comfortable in cold weather. We'll cover Winter Layering, Winter Fire Starting, Snow Shelters & Emergency Bivvies, and Winter Navigation.
January: The "Animal Adaptations" Month We'll shift our focus to the natural world and how it adapts to winter. Topics include Animal Tracking in Snow, Winter Animal Adaptations, Ice Safety & Cold Water Awareness, and Winter Bushcraft Crafts.
February: The "Resilience & Reflection" Month This month is about building resilience and reflecting on our skills. We'll cover Snowshoeing/Microspikes & Winter Travel, Winter First Aid & Emergency Signals, Mindful Moments in Winter, and a Winter Program Review.
Spring (March-May)
March: The "Awakening" Month As nature wakes up, we'll focus on resources and ethics. This includes Spring Wild Edibles & Foraging, Water Purification, Camp Cooking, and Leave No Trace (Advanced).
April: The "Navigation & Exploration" Month This month is about expanding our navigation and planning skills. Topics include Advanced Map & Compass, Geocaching & GPS Basics, Advanced Knots & Rigging, and Packing for Longer Trips.
May: The "Readiness & Reflection" Month We'll wrap up the year by preparing for future adventures and reflecting on what we've learned. Topics include Backcountry Communication, Animal Encounters & Safety, an Outdoor Ethics & Stewardship Project, and a Spring Program Showcase.
